Tribute to Clara Schumann

To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer Clara Schumann, Terés Löf – one of Sweden's best-known pianists – performs a commemorative concert in the Hall of State at Gripsholm Castle.

This year is the 200th anniversary of the birth of pianist and composer Clara Schumann. Clara Schumann was one of the first truly great female composers, and the concert at Gripsholm is a tribute to her.

During her career, she was best known for her interpretations of her husband Robert Schumann's works, but she also interpreted pieces by a number of other composers with great success. She composed many works of her own, primarily for the piano but also orchestral, chamber music, vocal and choral pieces.

Terés Löf trained at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. She made her début with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Brahms' first piano concerto. Since then, she has performed both as a soloist with orchestras and as a chamber musician.
